The Maiden Cup Competition is for members who have never won any official internal club events. This can cover a wide range of players from those who are long standing members through to newer members who might have won an event elsewhere but not at this club.
The draw below includes members of both these categories. In this case, however, the final was played between Les Candler and Andy Seymour – both talented bowlers who have been selected more than once to represent the club in this summers’ multi-club league matches but have not yet been at the club long enough to win one of our internal events.

The Final Unfolds
The final turned out to be a closely fought match with a very high standard of bowling. The first few ends were rather one-sided but by the eleventh end it was 11 all. Thereafter the scoring went back and fourth until the 21st end when, once again, it was level at 16-16. In the end, Les pulled out three strong ends and finished winning 22-19 on the 26th end.
Many congratulation to Les and commiserations to Andy who played his part right to the end in a thrilling watch for the spectators.
