The Club traditionally enjoys success in many of the outside competitions held by both the Federation and other Clubs. As the year progresses we will update this page.
Malaga Open Singles Championship
Ann Anderson Wins For Lauro
Hosted by Saydo Bowls Club this year, Ann showed her class and ability with strong performances all the way through the Competition. Congratulations Ann.
Provincial Championships
This year the Provincial Championships were set as 4 separate disciplines: Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours.
Men’s Singles – Lauro’s Kevin Westwell just lost a tough Final match against Simone Morgan 18-21
A special mention to Ken Pritchard who reached the Semi-Final before losing to Kevin.
The Men’s Pairs
Kevin Westwell and Paul Hughes will be disappointed that they only reached a Semi-Final at Mijas, but can take some consolation in losing to the eventual winners.
Held at Lauro we had a strong entry in the Men’s Triples.

Summer Championships
This year the Summer Championships were reduced to 2 separate disciplines: Open Pairs and Open Triples.
With the Discipline not being played at Lauro, Kevin Westwell and Paul Hughes were the only Lauro team to enter the Open Pairs. They were unlucky to lose in their first match.
In the Open Triples, held at Mijas Bowls Club, our only entry Ann Anderson, Jane Richardson and Heather Mainwaring lost to a very strong Mijas team in the 2st round.

Inter-Provincial Cup
This competition is the closest we have to a County competition as Malaga Province play Almeria Province, home and away each year.
Lauro players featured strongly in first of the 2024 matches as Malaga lost away.
Australian Pairs
Held at Benavista, once again we had only one entry Phil and Hazel Guttridge losing in the Final.

Malaga Two Bowl Pairs
With the competition being held at Benavista we there were few entries from outside the host Club. None were from Lauro.

Malaga Challenge Cup
Winners Lauro Golf Bowls Club
This inter Club competition saw Lauro make the Final for the 4th year running (and the 5th time overall).
Having lost to La Posada, Mijas and Santa Maria (twice) we were hoping for a long awaited win.
