An important new statement clarifying what footwear is permissible on our greens. Re-posted from an email by our club sec, Jane.
Dear all,
Paul who is our club representative at the Federation meetings, brought up the subject of footwear on the green and wished to add that with immediate effect, Lauro will only allow bowling shoes as mentioned in the law. Appx A, A.2.1 which says (“…….must wear flat-soled (heel-less) footwear when they play on the green……). It has been noticed that many trainers including sketchers are being worn with their original sole. Many clubs agreed with this approach and as they nearly all had new greens recently fitted, welcome this stance.
The standing wording for federation events, league and Malaga competitions will be amended and issued for all call notices, conditions of play in the future. This will include sandals must have a heel strap and footwear must originate from an official lawn bowls manufacturer.
Umpires will enforce this approach, and clubs should ensure their players are aware of this decision.
Therefore only official bowling shoes or flat sole shoes to be worn at all bowling events.
