Ladies Singles Championship (2026)

Margaret Woodin – Ladies’ Singles Competition Winner – 2026
The ladies’ Singles competition started with an awkward draw in terms of numbers players which resulted a high number of Byes. This was unfortunately added to by illness and other factors that also led to a long break before the final could be played.
Once the competition started, there were a number of entertaining matches along the way including early impressive performances by Monica. But it soon became clear that Margaret and Jill would be able to maintain consistently dominant performances on their way to the semi finals.
The long delayed final was eagerly anticipated as watchers were able to follow their respective performances prior to the Ladies Final, which seemed to suggest a closely fought competitive contest. Margaret, in particularly had hit a purple patch in other recent matches including the Inter-Provisional Competition against Almeria.
As often happens, though, it all comes down to how the players play on the day. In the end Margaret was able to pull out an early lead with some consistently accurate bowling for lengths to the jack. Jill fought back with some with well-played ends but was just unable to show the highly consistent lengths she had produced in earlier rounds.
In the end congratulations go to Margaret who came out a well-deserved winner.

Men’s Singles Final – 2026
Date: 20th September 2026
Today’s men’s final was between Kevin and Rob, who had both played in the semi-finals that morning. Kevin took an early lead before Rob began to fight back. However, the morning’s game had taken its toll with the oppressive heat. Eventually, Rob had to concede from heat exhaustion and shook hands hands early with the score at 19–12. Well done Kevin for winning the men’s club championship.
Thank you to Andy for marking the game and to everyone who came to watch.
