Outside Events 2022
The Club traditionally enjoys success in many of the outside competitions held by both the Federation and other Clubs. As the year progresses we will update this page.
Inter Club Singles Championship
Hosted by Mijas Bowls Club this year, this tournament brings together the Singles Champions of all the Clubs to decides this year's winners. Our representatives this year were Kevin Westwell and Jane Richardson. In a much re-arranged tournament as heavy rain played havoc throughout March, Kevin won the Men's title and Jane came 3rd in the Ladies section. Well done to both of you.
Provincial Championships
This year the Provincial Championships were set as 4 separate disciplines: Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours.
Lauro had no entries in either of the Singles disciplines but fared much better in the Pairs.
The Men's Pairs, held at Lauro, saw both Finalists from Lauro, with Kevin Westwell and Paul Hughes taking the win against Ron Jones and Julian Thomas.
In the Ladies Pairs our only entry, Jenny Parkin and Chrystal McCallum narrowly lost in the Final to a team from Saydo.
In the Triples, also held at Lauro, our Club had excellent results.
In the Men's Triples, 3 of the 4 Semi-Finalists were Lauro teams and the Final was an all Lauro affair, Ron Jones, Julian Thomas and Jeff Turner taking the title from Trevor Burgin, Terry Higgins and Ray Gumbley
Meanwhile in the Ladies Triples the only Lauro team to enter had an excellent Final win against a very strong and much fancied Mijas team. Well done to Jenny Parkin, Heather Mainwaring and Chris Jewson
The final Discipline, the Mixed Fours was held at Mijas Bowls Club and attracted a strong entry. Unfortunately the 2 Lauro teams faced each other in the Semi-Final, which on one hand meant it could not be an all Lauro Final but on the other hand guaranteed a Lauro team in the Final. The orher Semi-Final was an all Mijas match, ensuring the Final would be between Mijas and Lauro.
Ron Jones, Julian Thomas, Jeff Turner and Heather Mainwaring beat Margaret Woodin, Alan Cox, Dave Salmon and Chris Jewson in that Semi-Final, before continuing their strong tournament showing with another easy win in the Final against a Mijas team.

Summer Championships
This year the Summer Championships were set as 4 separate disciplines: Singles, Open Pairs, Open Triples and Mixed Fours.
Lauro players Ron Jones and Phil Guttridge both lost in the first round of the Singles, held at Benavista.
In the Open Pairs we failed to capitalise on our home advantage with the best we could manage a losing Semi-Final for Kevin Westwell and Paul Hughes.
In the Open Triples, held at Mijas Bowls Club, our only entry fought a very strong field to win a gripping Final. Well done Ron Jones, Julian Thomas and Paul Hughes
In the Mixed Fours at Lauro, we again had both teams in the Final and a thrilling 14-13 win for Kevin Westwell, Paul Hughes, Trevor Burgin and Jane Richardson over Jenny Parkin, Julian Thomas, Dennis Buckman and Terry Higgins
