Outside Events 2019

The Club traditionally enjoys success in many of the outside competitions held by both the Federation and other Clubs. As the year progresses we iwll update this page.

Champion of Champions
Hosted by once again Santa Maria this year, this tournament brings together the Singles Champions of all the Clubs to decides this year's winners.Our representatives this year were Kevin Westwell and Sue Timms. Although ulitmately unsuccessful they both played well and upheld the honour of the Club. Well done to both of you.

Provincial Championships
Hosted here at Lauro this year,there was a disappointing entry from our own Club, as several of our more competitive bowlers have either returned to the UK or left for pastures new. Those that did enter gave a stong showing with Kevin Westwell winning the Men's Singles, Ron Jones, Tony Barnes and Julian Thomas winning the Men's Triples, Hazel Guttridge narrowly losing in the Ladies Singles Final and Ron Jones and Julian Thomas just losing out in the Men's Pairs Finals. Ron, Tony and Julian, with Sue Jones just lost in the Mixed Fours semi-finals too. An excellent showing all round. Full report: Provincial Championships

Summer Championships
This 10 day event took place in September at Mijas Bowls Club. Lauro had another successful tournament. Paul Hughes and Kevin Westwell won the Pairs title, Ron Jones, Tony Barnes, Julian Thomas and Sue Jones won the Mixed Fours title with help from Jane Richardson, who stepped in for the Final itself when Sue was unable to make it. Hazel Guttridge narrowly lost out in the Ladies Singles Final , too.

Andalucian Championships
This year saw the Club's entry into this event reduced but we nevertheless maintained or reputation by having Winners in two of the 5 diciplines.
Congratulations to Kevin Westwell for winning the Men's Singles, and Julian Thomas for winning the Mixed Four's. A special mention, too, to Marcus Smith and Kevin Westwell who only narrowly lost out in the Men's Pairs Final. Well done all of you.
