Outside Events 2018

Throughout 2018 the Club was represented in many outside competitions and had a lot of success. This page celebrates the successes in those competitions.

Champion of Champions
Hosted by Santa Maria this year, this tournament brings together the Singles Champions of all the Clubs to decides this year's winners.Our representatives this year were Graham Jarrett and June Baldry. Although ulitmately unsuccessful they both played well and upheld the honour of the Club. Well done to both of you.

Provincial Championships
Hosted by Santa Maria this year, our members did not prove to be as successful as in previous years. However we did get the men's pairs Champions thanks to Ron Jones and Julian Thomas. Well done to both of them.

Summer Championships
Hosted again by Benavista this year, a reduction in entry fees saw an increase in entries. Lauro again doing well, with Barry and Angie Holt gettting to the Semi-Finals of the Pairs and Ron Jones, Julian Thomas and Kevin Westwell getting to the Semi-Finals of the Triples. Pride of place however must be shared by Angie and Kevin who won their respective Singles competitions.Well done to you both! Full report: Summer Championships

Andalucian Championships
Held in the Almeria Procince this year, Lauro only had a small representationr. However, those that made the trek were very successful, all of them coming back with medals and competing well in all the disciplines they entered.
In the Mixed Fours, Ron Jones, Julian Thomas and Sue Jones were joined by Lynne Metcalfe and brushed aside all opposition to win the discipline. Marcus Smith beat some strong opponents too, to clinch the prestigious Men's Singles title. We look forward to seeing more of Marcus at the Club during the comng season. Ron and Julian were also unlucky to lose in the Semi-Final of the Men's Pairs. All in all a fine effort all round. Well done.
